Across the world, young Christians are caring for forests, rivers, coastlines, wildlife and communities. They are passionate about conservation and committed to following Christ, but many lack access to the training, mentoring and global connections that could help them make a greater impact.
The A Rocha Conservation Certificate exists to change that.
This part-time online programme equips Christians working in conservation with a deeper understanding of creation care, practical conservation skills and leadership development. Students learn from experienced practitioners, receive mentoring and undertake a hands-on conservation project in their own context.
In our pilot year, fifteen outstanding students from eleven countries across six continents joined the programme.
I think you’ve managed to find a perfect balance of talking about the basics but still going deeper. I can honestly say that I’ve gained new knowledge and perspectives from every single session.
I loved the practicality of the sessions. These are all concepts and ideas that I can readily apply to my conservation projects and practices.
I’ve learnt a lot both from the sessions and the reading material that has been really interesting. But I’m also really happy about being part of this group of inspiring people wanting to learn together.
The speakers were passionate and very knowledgeable in their field.
The certificate has helped to deepen my understanding of both the theology of creation care and the conservation behind protecting the incredible ecosystems of our world.
The Harris-Naylor Scholarship was established in 2025 in memory of A Rocha co-founder Miranda Harris and A Rocha International Executive Director Chris Naylor and his wife Susanna, who died in a car accident while travelling on an A Rocha work trip in South Africa.
Miranda, Chris and Susanna shared a deep commitment to encouraging, mentoring and investing in younger generations. They believed in the potential of emerging Christian conservationists and dedicated much of their lives to helping others flourish.
The scholarship continues that legacy by enabling students who could not otherwise afford the programme to participate.
Demand for the Certificate is growing rapidly.
As of 1 June, 32 students from eighteen countries have already registered interest in our second cohort, with space for around forty participants.
Many of these applicants are working in economically challenging contexts. Others are at the beginning of their careers or supporting families while pursuing their calling in conservation. Prospective students from Burundi, Cameroon, India, Kenya, Nepal, the Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Uganda have already indicated that they cannot afford the full course fee.
We do not want financial hardship to prevent gifted and committed conservation leaders from accessing this opportunity.
We need to raise £18,000 to provide scholarships for up to twenty students.
Your gift will help equip Christian conservationists with the knowledge, skills, mentoring and encouragement they need to care for God’s creation in their own communities and countries.
By supporting the Harris-Naylor Scholarship Fund, you are not only helping students access training today—you are helping to nurture a generation of leaders whose influence will extend for years to come.
£50 helps provide learning resources and mentoring support.
£225 funds a quarter scholarship.
£675 funds a 75% scholarship for one student.
£900 enables a student to participate at the full course cost.
