David has been involved with A Rocha UK for over 20 years – almost since its beginning. He was a Trustee for nine years, and, as a volunteer, has helped with their magazine and local groups. Currently, he is part of the steering group for Foxearth Meadows, a small nature reserve owned by A Rocha UK.
He is a freelance writer, editor and wildlife guide and the author/co-author of 17 books including theRSPB Children’s Guide to Birdwatching,100 Birds to See in Your Lifetime, KingfishersandA Beginner’s Guide to Dragonflies & Damselflies of Britain & Ireland. He is a regular contributor toBird Watchingmagazine, a former editor ofRoot & Branch(the magazine of A Rocha UK) and edits A Rocha UK’s digital communications. Before he went ‘free-range’ David worked for the RSPB in childrens/youth work and volunteering development, and was Head of European Division for BirdLife International.
He lives in Cambridgeshire, UK, very close to a large, and growing, wetland nature reserve, where he enjoys birds, dragonflies and other wildlife, and sharing this with other people. David has been part of The C3 Church in Cambridge since 1987.
